A New Chef in Town, Briefly

It’s been a long time coming, but we have a new program! Chef Marcelo Traldi with SENAC in São Paulo visited Ivy Tech in February and March to help kick off our brand new culinary program between the two colleges. He had the opportunity to get in the kitchen and cook alongside the Ivy Tech students as they hosted the Taste of Brazil luncheon, giving tips and encouraging this new class of young culinary artists. This student-led luncheon was aimed just for special Ivy Tech supporters that took place a few days after the Feijoada. This is just the beginning for them -- they will be heading down to Brazil in August to do their two-week trip to learn about Brazilian cuisine (with plenty of sampling along the way!).

Partners own Moacir Feldenheimer and Eduardo Alessandri later made sure to give Chef Marcelo the grand tour of Indianapolis. The trio visited Second Helpings, Newfields, and Patachou Foundation. He had the chance to see how Indianapolis tackles issues of feeding the community and how to incorporate new, earth-friendly, healthy food prep.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip to Indy without sitting in the driver’s seat in this whirlwind tour, would it?
